DISH, nestled into the side of Woerner Warehouse on Lincoln Street next to Carol Hicks Bolton, is inspired from Carol’s love of big family gatherings, suppers, cocktails on the porch and sweet picnics in the country. Wandering through this warehouse space, you will be delighted with place settings, tea cups, and warm memories of past gatherings, while being inspired to create new ones in the future. Another fun feature is the Denim Bar created by Beecher Proch. Overalls, jeans, and anything denim is handmade, making each pair truly one of a kind. Hollie Fairchild’s new venture Lōft redefines Home & Garden. The Lōft has a sprawling location on Lincoln St. in Fredericksburg (One block South of Main St). Lōft is filled with both antique and new furnishings; as well as unique planters and containers. Rock & Vine magazine loves to explore her wonderful selection of one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor plants and trees. We are simply smitten with Hollie’s newest venture as she brings the outside in and makes our outdoor spaces part of our everyday living experience. Modern pieces add bold statements mixed alongside rough and worn concrete and wooden objects. The blend of both worlds in texture and design define the Lōft as a unique treasure capable of transforming anyone’s home into a dramatic show stopper.

Wonder Kammer (cabinets of wonder) is a collection of notable objects put upon display, termed in the 16th century. Owner Carol Hicks Bolton reveres the past, yet is ahead of her time with her collections of impressive historical and architectural curiosities on display. Obtained from around the globe with meticulous precision on numerous scouting trips throughout Europe and the world, Carol will not disappoint the wanderlust spirit inside everyone. In her cavernous, sprawling space, Carol suspend time and allows a free pass to move through time and lose oneself in wonderment in her gallery-like showroom. Rock & Vine loves her attention to detail and creative merchandising that she puts forth in her store front. This is a creative escape that transforms how we repurpose and reimagine our own living spaces with grace and natural simplicity. With every object found and displayed, Carol will have a unique vision and story to be shared on how best to incorporate said object with imagination, beauty and function.

Ab Astris Winery
Ab Astris is a family owned boutique winery located in the lush Hill Country setting of Stonewall. This 12-acre estate vineyard primarily grows Tannat, Souzao, Clairette Blanche and Montepulciano. The Ab Astris family is dedicated to making their wines with Texas-grown fruit and sharing their views in this idyllic and peaceful setting.
Rock & Vine’s choice this season is the Ab Astris 2016 Montepulciano. More full-bodied than the 2015, this vintage has classic Montepulciano notes of chocolate and cola on the nose. On the palate are notes of black pepper, cherry and baking chocolate. This wine pairs best with anything tomato based, like pizza or pasta.

Adega Vinho Winery
Adega Vinho is one of our newest Texas Hill Country wineries located in the picturesque community of Stonewall. The Bigler family is dedicated to their craft of producing great all-Texas wines while adhering to sustainable agricultural practices.
Rock & Vine’s choice this season is Adega Vinho’s 2019 Tempranillo Rose. This wine is pale peach in color with clean and aromatic notes. Smells of strawberries, orange blossoms and tangerines. This Rose is a medium-bodied wine with tastes of watermelon, strawberries and tangerines. Pairs well with Spanish tapas, grilled salmon, and paella.
Currently Adega Vinho winery is offering 10% off all wine for La Cantera website viewers. They are also offering a private curated tasting of their wines with a special barrel tasting for $100 per couple. This La Cantera tasting must be booked and paid in advance.
Cross Mountain Vineyards
Cross Mountain Vineyards tasting room is located in Fredericksburg. This venue specializes in procuring artisanal, small-batch wines crafted in Italy. This family-owned tasting room and wine-distribution team loves finding special gems from the Italian Hill Country and sharing them with our Texas Hill Country. The Evans family has a deep appreciation for the craft of Italian wine making and has for generations enjoyed sharing wine in the Texas Hill Country.
This season's Rock & Vine pick is the CMV Rosé. This light-bodied, organic rosé has a delicate color reminiscent of flowers of the Mediterranean. White roses, red cherry and raspberry flavors, with a round and smooth finish. This Rosé pairs wonderfully with fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, frittatas and omelets. Anything you grab from a local market would pair well with this fresh, light and crisp wine.

Saint Tryphon Farm & Vineyards
Saint Tryphon Farm & Vineyards is tucked into the winding hills of Boerne. This boutique and family-owned winery is named after an ancient Christian saint that is renowned for protecting wine-growers, gardeners and birds. Silouan Bradford and his wife are dedicated to using 100% Texas grapes in their varietals. As the Bradfords like to say, “Our goal is to craft great wines from great vineyards in Texas, and by great we mean wild, interesting and authentic”.
Rock & Vine’s choice this season is the St. Tryphon Muscat Petnat. It has an old-school style; it is a dry sparkling wine that is bottle-fermented. Wild with lavender, citrus-peel and a generous mouthfeel. Think “mimosa in a glass”. Nothing needed; nothing wanting. Unfiltered goodness. 100% TEXAS.

Slate Mill Wine Collective
Slate Mill Wine Collective is located in Fredericksburg. It was opened in January 2020 with the Jones family acquisition. This collective encourages and supports their Texas boutique brands under one roof. Currently they have over 35 acres planted and support their “collective village” of winemakers with their custom crush facility.
Rock and Vine’s choice this season is the 2018 Viognier. Sommelier Jennifer Beckman provides her tasting notes: "A variety known for its heavily perfumed bouquet, the 2018 viognier has enticing aromatics boasting jasmine and white flowers. The palate delivers notes of candied Meyer lemon zest, white peach, and pineapple. With a rich body and rich mouthfeel, the viognier will hold up to most cuisines. This wine is best paired with poultry or mildly spicy Thai food.
